An Argentinean, Angel Cabrera won the U.S. Open last year and the crowd cheered wildly, applauding him every step of the way during his final round. Shortly after that, Miss USA went to the Miss Universe Pageant in Mexico and was booed incessantly. Why? George W. Bush – that’s what the liberals proclaim.
If all other countries hate America because of President Bush, whom did they hate during the first bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993? Whom did they hate when they blew up our U.S. Embassies in Africa? Whom did they hate when they attacked the USS Cole? Or when they killed our soldiers in Lebanon? Or Pearl Harbor?
Contrary to what liberals think, the world hates America because of our freedoms (esp. religious), our liberties, our opportunities, our military strength and our wealth ascertained by our free enterprise system. We are hated for many reasons, but the “hate George Bush” crowd wants everyone to think it is because of him.
And it’s not just him they hate – they hate our military and all conservatives. They probably hate John Wayne, Bob Hope, Toby Keith, Lee Greenwood, Patricia Heaton – anyone who stands up and says, “America is the greatest nation on earth.” And most of all, you know they hated Ronald Reagan.
Ironically, this same group loves people who hate America like Michael Moore, Barbara Streisand, Al Franken, Alec Baldwin, Rosie O’Donnell and all the left-wingers in Hollywood. These are the mentors they look to for enlightenment about the government and our country.
As we look to celebrate Veterans Day and raise our American flags, liberals look for defeat in the war on terrorism – Sen. Harry Reid and Rep. Nancy Pelosi are ready to raise the white flag. Defeat looks good to them and the anti-military Left. If we leave Iraq before they are ready to govern, they can point to the slaughter of innocents when we pullout as George Bush’s fault and just another reason to hate him.
What the liberals in Congress and Hollywood don’t understand is that most Americans support our military. Recently, there was a story about a gentleman who was moving back to Tennessee after many years away and flew back to Knoxville on Delta Air Lines. The pilot announced that one of the travelers on the flight was a U.S. Army veteran returning home to Tennessee after his 3rd tour of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The soldier had not seen his wife or two children in nearly a year and the pilot asked that he be allowed to exit the plane first. He said the plane erupted into applause as the soldier walked up the aisle. There are other stories of our soldiers getting standing ovations in airports all over the country.
Liberals don’t understand this – they loathe our military and they want peace, not war. Little do they know, there would be little or no peace in the world if it were not for our brave men and women in uniform.
Some soldiers have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and no matter how many times Sen. Reid and his allies talk about defeat and military failure, we shall never forget those. As Veterans Day approaches, I reflect upon this recent obituary that appeared in a local paper:
“Killed in action in Iraq. First, God gave us a son to love, then a hero to admire. While you were rushing to aid your fellow soldiers, God had yet another plan. He reached down into the Euphrates River Valley and took you by the hand. We know that freedom isn’t free and every day we miss you, we are reminded again: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13.
We can’t support the troops without supporting the war and we can’t support them without supporting our commander-in-chief. He’s not perfect and has made his share of mistakes, but it’s time to put aside the hatred until we win the most critical war in our nation’s history.
