In a speech to Planned Parenthood now President Obama promised, “The first thing I’d do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That’s the first thing I’d do.” Lets hope that this promise doesn’t get upheld. The Freedom of choice act (FOCA) has little to do with patients’ rights or allowing women to make the choice to have an abortion. FOCA would eliminate every restriction on abortion nationwide ending what Obama calls “a cultural war.” Apparently parental involvement, partial birth abortion, taxpayer funded abortions, and forcing doctors at faith-based hospitals and healthcare facilities to perform abortions is part of a cultural war.
More like its sick. Sorry Mr. President, but responsibility, freedom, and life aren’t the negative results of a cultural war, they are the qualities of decent human beings and rights guaranteed by the document you just swore to uphold.
On another note, allying yourself with planned parenthood makes you lose all credibility as a pro-choice advocate. Planned parenthood is vehemently against the pro-choice movement, in favor of a much more radical population control anti-parenthood campaign. I have been approached several times by representatives of planned parenthood, and when I tell them “No thanks, I already have a plan. I plan on being a good father,” they stepped back horrified in disbelief and disgust. As a father yourself, you should find that kind of attitude reprehensible. I suggest you keep better company.

Obama isn’t forcing anybody to get an abortion. If someone wants an abortion, they should be allowed to get one. Support a woman’s right to choose!
Tony,
No, Obama isn’t forcing anybody to get an abortion, nor is that what this article says. FOCA isn’t about allowing abortion and woman’s right to choose, FOCA is about forcing doctor’s who don’t want to perform abortions to perform them. Its akin to forcing a vegan to slaughter your beef for you, it isn’t right. Doctor’s should have the same rights as anyone else, they shouldn’t be subjected to state control over their personal actions and decisions. Where is the doctor’s right to choose?
FOCA reminds me of the alien and sedition acts and the Patriot Act. Apparently you are only free to choose, say, and think as long as everyone else agrees with you.
Excellent post! I Googled around for this… I came across your site!
