By now we’ve all laughed a few dozen times already about the condoms in the ’stimulus’ package, perhaps we even chuckled when we noticed that the economic stimulus package set aside $4 Billion to pay cops to fight the rising crime rates that are due to the current poor economic conditions. What we are ignoring though is that with not one, but two Trillion dollar bailouts we have still failed to even remotely address the real economic issues we face.
There is an infinitely wise saying in politics “give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for life.” I have always taken the saying fairly literally to mean that fixing the root problem is far better than temporarily patching it, but apparently the Obama administration and the democratic congress interpret this very differently.
Not only is the current stimulus package little more than a laughing stock plush full of funding for failed programs and new programs destined to fail from the start, but it completely ignores any of the real solutions that have been presented to help fix the current economic woes. No SEC overhaul, no fix for the fraudulent accounting practices mandated by a democratic congress years ago that helped get us in this mess, and no end to the handouts to whoever wants one.
I laughed extra hard recently when I heard Obama declare the bailout of Wall-Street that lined corporate pockets while fixing nothing disgusting, he should know, he voted for it.
Speaking of handouts, did I mention Chicago’s Mayor Richard Daley wants $20 Billion to rebuild an airport? Or that the Airlines servicing this Airport don’t even want this reconstruction?
While we are talking Illinois politics, there’s another fishing proverb which states “there is never a fish bigger than the one that got away.” Poor Blagojevich, he really wasn’t all that important but he had to go as the fall guy to cover up all the rest of the democratic corruption infesting this country. Don’t get me wrong here, neither side of the aisle has been even remotely squeaky clean of late, but after 8 years of hearing about how awful the republican and Bush corruption was I feel dishing a little back at corruption’s real big dogs ..er fish.. is more than justified.
Take three of Obama’s nominees. Our new treasury head Timothy Geithner collects our taxes but fails to pay his. Our likely new head of health and human services and former senator Tom Daschle liked to raise our taxes, but apparently even Senators don’t like to pay them, to the tune of $160,000. I don’t think the senate seat Blogojevich was offering was going for nearly that much.
Then there’s is our new Secretary of State, Ms. Billary Clinton. Her husband’s new library was paid for with a lot of donations made under the assumption that she would be President and capable of dishing the favors back. We’re talking millions here, not chunk change.
Oh, and our new squeaky clean President? He’s not so clean either, perhaps you should take a closer look at his voting record and discover why Judicial Watch named him to the “top ten most wanted corrupt politicians” for 2007 and 2008 right alongside Hillary. Seems Barack successfully made a few extra bucks on the side.
Point being? The democrats don’t teach how to fish, they save the profiteering for themselves and leave the average American without a hook or line. But it doesn’t matter, we know who the big fish are. They are the one’s that got away, at least, until we get ourselves a hook and line strong enough to reel them in.

Amen. Still, I have to say that some of the things that Republicans were fighting tooth and claw to get struck from the bailout package seemed a little bit petty. I’m rather tired to watching politicians make token gestures of disapproval instead of actually taking a stand. In my mind, corruption is a result of wishy-washiness; wishy-washiness fostered by the growing number of career politicians, motivated by reelection rather than actual accomplishments. Washington needs a little more backbone, and a little less self-centeredness.
